Dogs need exercise, and the activity they love more than any other is walking. However, many dog owners shirk the responsibility. Perhaps they simply don’t have time, or maybe they don’t realize how important it is to walk their dogs.

Others give it a go, but give up after being hauled around the neighborhood one time too often by an unruly dog. If any of the aforementioned scenarios describes you, pay attention, because I’d like to share a piece of information that every dog owner should know.

“Dogs must be walked!”

Any dog trainer will tell you that daily exercise is a must for all dogs. For some, 30 minutes to an hour may be enough, for others 2 hours will just be getting started. But the point is they all need exercise, and walking should be the core component of that.

But dog walking involves more than a just leashing your dog and setting off. Some simple guidelines will make it a lot easier for you, and more enjoyable for the dog.

Here are some best practices you can follow;

* Don’t walk your dog during the hottest time of the day as they overheat quite easily. If you need to walk when it’s hot be sure to have some water along for the dog to drink.

* Don’t allow your dog to walk in front of you or he may get the idea that he is the pack leader and this will encourage him to pull. Always walk with the dog by your side.

* Don’t pull back on the lead because this will just encourage your dog to pull back. Try to always keep a relaxed grip, and if your dog does pull, stop and wait for him to calm down before continuing.

* Maintain control of the walk. Don’t allow you dog to dictate direction and particularly when to stop. Sniffing around and marking should only happen when you allow it.

* Where possible, avoid other dogs. You have no idea of another dog’s temperament and matters can quickly get out of hand. If your dog is small, pick him up if a big dog approaches aggressively, if you have a big dog just walk in a different direction and avoid a confrontation.

You also don’t know the health status of dogs you come across. An infected dog can pass on a serious disease to your dog.

* The right leash or collar. Pick a leash / collar combination that is strong enough to keep the dog in check, but still comfortable for him to wear. Also ensure that your dog wears his id tags. You never know when he might slip his leash.

If your dog does escape, the id tag will hopefully result in him being returned safely. For an extra level of security you may also want to have your dog micro-chipped.

* Finally, have fun! Walking your dog can be a really fun activity if you approach it in the right way. It’s one of the best ways of bonding with your dog, it’s an excellent work out for both of you, and your dog will be calmer and more obedient. All of that for just an hour of your time a day.

Do you need to do some dog training with your dog or puppy, but you don’t have a lot of time to spare and you want to do something that gets good results? Whether it’s for housetraining a puppy, teaching a dog not to pull on leash or jump up on guests, or for any of the many other training challenges that can come up when you live with a dog, do find out about the methods that use rewards for quick learning.

Positive Reinforcement Dog Training

Dogs love it, and so their enthusiasm makes the training go faster. You can use a very small bit of food as a reward, and that is perhaps most common, but you can also use some friendly rubbing of your dog’s body in his favorite spots, or you could play ball together. What you use depends on what you have handy… anything the dog likes can be used as a positive reinforcement.

It’s up to you whether you even touch the dog or not during training of this sort. Because some dogs have been trained in very forceful ways, they may have become wary of your hands.

Says positive training pioneer Dr. Ian Dunbar, “I have always taught people to never touch a dog to force him to comply, but rather, to touch him afterwards as a reward if that’s what he enjoys.” Dr. Dunbar, a veterinarian turned dog trainer, founded the Association of Pet Dog Trainers which is an international organization of dog trainers committed to using positive reinforcement dog training methods. Dr. Dunbar was featured in a book by Cesar Millan, Cesar’s Rules.

Other well-known dog trainers agree. “Training a dog using dominance causes the dog to respond out of fear, which results in psychological problems for the dog, does not identify or solve the root problem, and ultimately damages the owner-dog relationship,” says dog trainer and star of the television show It’s Me or the Dog, Victoria Stilwell.

So back to you and your dog. What do you want to work on next? Does your dog need housetraining? Does he need to learn to walk nicely on a leash when you go out in public with him? Do you want to teach him to sit reliably, to stay until given a release word like “Okay!’ or to come when called? If you would like to try easy, enjoyable methods with your pooch, learn more about positive dog training.

Szkolenia

By: Bill Glatzel, MS Animal behaviorist,

FACT:
95% of aggression can be managed and controlled, but over 80% of dogs reported to severe aggression die each year, and euthanasia due to lack of training or the wrong kind of training.

Most Veterinarians, trainers and most dogs are in good intentions, but I have no idea how to deal effectively with aggression. The first thing you have to say that aggression is very serious. Nobody should try to cope with aggression without the help of an experienced and professional trainer of dogs, who specializes in aggression. Two things usually happen. The dog gets to death, or a weak attempt to resolve the problem with someone or some dog injury, in some cases very seriously hurt.

Q: Do I Dog Trainer, animal behaviorist, veterinarian, or someone who specializes in Behavioral Medicine

A: This is a best to consult your animals behaviorist who specializes in Behavioral Medicine and one who works with many veterinarians who have a good understanding of many complex medical factors that are usually associated with neurochemical, hormonal, metabolic and genetic factors, and sometimes diet and ingredients nutrients, as well.

Figure 2 Serious Dog Bite Training

Q: I’ve always been told I should go and see the vet first. Why is this not true?

A: Probably more. Most dog trainers teach basic obedience commands like sit, stay, come. They may also assist in the basic manners, jump stop, and stop barking, potty. But when it comes to severe aggression, it is not fundamental ways, not just about training. The best person to help you is animal behaviorist who is also a trainer and one who specializes in Behavioral Medicine. Most dog trainers often can not cope with severe aggression and the need to put the dog down, or make the dog more aggressive, because I do not understand the behavior of dogs with the multilateral approach and perspective. Anyone can call themselves a dog trainer. There are no standards, no license and no qualifications. The other hand, animal behaviorist, or earned masters or doctorate, from an accredited university or college and has extensive training in animal behavior with the actual field work and research. Animal behaviorist is the Behavioral Scientist. Many dog ??trainers can also mean a very good intentions, but ethically should with the exception of their limitations in terms of training, education and experience, and relate to animals Behaviorist.

When you have a doggy friend you like to take care of it properly. It needs a warm place to sleep, good quality food, plenty of exercise and a strong collar to clip that lead to when you are out walking. When people see dogs with good dog collars they know they are not a strays but belong to people who care for them.

Dog collars can be practical such as for attaching leads to when walking your dog and for identification, but they can also just be for fun. You can have several different collars for your special pal just for fun – or to colour-coordinate with your own outfits. But many dogs need more than just a collar.

Short-haired breeds tend to get cold outside in the winter weather, especially if they spend most of their days inside a warm apartment. Being indoors, their coats do not develop that thick under layer that keeps an outdoor dog warm in winter. Dog Coats and dog jackets will be needed to keep indoor dogs warm.

Dog is a lovely and faithful animal. The pet seems even more adorable when it behaves gently and to achieve this should always be sought from a Professional Dog Behaviorist We often think that we ourself can train our pup or dog. But believe me this is not a child’s , we need a Professional or a Dog trainer. Poor dog training makes your dog undisciplined It causes serious nuisance and a destructive effect on the relationship between the dog and its owner.Hence, an effective dog training is paramount for pet’s safety and quality of life of the dog and its owner as well. Would you risk your dog’s life and health by being irresponsible in imparting it a proper Dog Training. So, its better to consult a Professional Dog behaviourist for training purpose.

A Dog behaviourist knows well how to train the dog .An Effective Dog training is compatible. The training is good to be started at an early age i.e when they are still puppies. The Professionals conduct Puppy Training Seminars to train the puppies. It is advisable to let the Dog be trained by one Dog behaviourist only. If the Dog will be exposed to different trainers then this can confuse the Dog and hamper its training process.Effective dog training should be fun. Well, can you imagine how fun it is for an employee or trainer dog training school then that one day he or she must proceed to training dogs for more than 5 dogs per day.

A Professional Dog behaviourist judges this as a profession and therefore always tries to give his/her 100% and deliver the best results. Furthermore the Dog Training continues for a definite time period which offers greater intensity. On the contrary, if you train your Dog on your own without any professional advice then that is more time consuming. The success rate in case of domestic training depends majorly on the motivation, perseverance and availability of the owner. Sometimes, it may not be possible for the owner to trian its dog on a daily basis. Due to this reason, Dog Training should always be sought from a Professional Dog behaviourist. Unlike always, Dog training may show unusual results in some cases. In some cases these kind of short trainings prove inadequate for new dogs and hence the credibility of these trainers remains under strong doubt.

Your Dog should at least 6 months old to seek a Professional Dog Training from a Dog Behaviourist. This is very important indeed. Your Dog will learn to socialize under the training and supervision of a Professional Dog Behaviourist. You will find that in these classes, your dog can socialize with other dogs and that makes it more enjoyable and libertarian. This is starting of the process of getting him rid of his own perennial habits But please dont forget to ensure that the Professional Dog Behaviourist or Dog Trainers behave well and gently with your loved pet. Remember, dogs should never be punished or even reprimanded. This can make them grow extremely aggressive or fearful.

Now the matter of concern is that from where should you get a Professional Dog behaviourist for training purpose.where should you go? Well, you can easily find Dog Training centres in your city or a nearby are or you can consult a vetenerian as well . You must also be cautious and use your own discretion when selecting. In case you want to bring a Professional Dog Behaviourist at your home you require to find the coach who is qualified enough to work with your dog. Save surplus training time and expense by giving a little intial training to your dog to obey his/her Trainer. It is much easier to train a obedient dog. For fetching more information on Professional Dog Training,Dog Behaviourist, Puppy Training Seminars, see http://www.good-dogs.co.uk/ . You will get great help from there.

You are trying to tell your dog to come here. It ignores you. You try again getting a bit more frustrated. No matter how much you shout at your dog it does not seem to react. There are simple dog training tricks that can make this work so that your dog will come to you immediately, every time.

First, it is important to understand that you dog is ignoring your commands because it doesn’t understand you. You may have tried to teach your dog this command already, and it may now be that what it is thinking you want is different from what you actually want.

Your dog desire is to please it’s owner and the easiest way to teach your dog is to do it for a few minutes each day in the form of play. Make it fun and your dog will learn faster. Also, this is a great way to bond with your dog. Spend those few minutes a day to teach your dog to “come” as soon as you command it.

Getting home a puppy is one of the greatest moment that a pet lover could ever have. Imagine, cuddling the cute and innocent looking puppy. Your pup’s loving appearance aside, you need to train him properly and follow proper dog care tips, so that he obeys your commands. Anyways, the overall behavior of a dog more or less depends upon the training that has been given in the pup stage. Every dog owner wishes their dog to be healthy, well-behaved and an obedient pet. Let’s take a look in brief about the difference between puppy training and dog training.

Puppy Training vs. Dog Training

Whether you are training a puppy or a dog, the basic dog training tips remain the same. It is true that some dog types are aggressive and need special handling. Whatever be the nature of the pet, the owner should train the puppy/dog, lovingly and regularly. This way, you can build that special bond with your pet dog. Being harsh to your pet will worsen the scenario. Then you will require a professional trainer to change your dog’s behavior.

A puppy, in comparison to a well-grown dog, learns quickly and obeys the trainer. There are certain puppy training tips that will help you groom your puppy well. For example, in the first two weeks after birth, you can teach your pup about simple association with the members of the family. In the next weeks, you can train the pup to socialize with other pets and people. In case of full grown-dogs, he will be obedient and behave well, as long as you appreciate and handle him carefully.

What type of leashes are best for your dog? Well personally, I prefer leather leashes. Nylon leashes have a tendency to cut and burn your hand. They also slip through your hands more easily if your dog suddenly pulls at you. A leather leash gives you more comfortable control. A good dog trainer can look at a leather leash and tell how much the dog owners are working with their puppies. The more they practice, the softer the leash becomes.

Some owners don’t like leather leads because they are more expensive and puppies have a tendency to chew on them during a walk. There is nothing more cute than a puppy carrying his leash while you walk him. If your puppy puts the leash in his mouth during a walk, then let him carry it for a while, but maintain control of it. If he bites too hard on it or really starts to chew, then this is a good time to practice the “Drop it” command. With a firm voice say, “Drop it,” and substitute a stronger motivator to satisfy his needs.

I do not favor chain link leashes. They are hard on your hands when you move up and down the leash to control your dog. The only good purpose to link leashes is if you’re tying your dog outside for a while – dogs can’t chew through them.

I am also not a fan of retractable leads. I feel the owner has little control over a dog or puppy with such a lead. Some owners feel they are giving their dog more exercise and freedom with a retractable lead, since the dog can move ten to fifteen feet ahead of the owner. But accidents easily happen – a biker or runner can quickly go by and if your dog moves toward them, a person can trip on this long lead. Also, it is very difficult to control a dog and gain back the leash quickly if someone is coming toward your dog or if your dog is moving toward them.

A retractable lead is made of wire and you cannot grab on to it. I think the best use for a retractable lead is when you are in a field and want to give some extra lead to your pup so he can run about with a little more freedom. Otherwise, on city streets, I only see it as a nuisance for other people.

Retractable leads also create a problem if your dog gets loose from you. The plastic housing at the end of the lead will bounce along as it trails behind the dog. This can frighten some dogs, particularly noise-sensitive dogs, and they will run that much further away trying to flee from the very sound that they can’t escape.

If you love working with dogs, a dog training career may be just right for you. Dogs all the way from puppies to older dogs, need training, and their owners usually don’t know how to train them. They need a professional to do the job.
